Discussie met Martin Parr over fotoboeken

In recent years the book has come to be recognized as central to the history of photography. More than the single print or the gallery exhibition, it is the page that has been photography's most important site. In its flexibility, the book format has allowed photography its widest creative expression and its deepest reflections on modern life.

Martin Parr and Gerry Badger join Michael Mack, Managing Director of Steidl, and photo historian David Campany to trace the development of the photographic book from its beginnings in the middle of the nineteenth century up to the present day. The speakers look at radically different approaches to editing and juxtaposing images, and at the ways in which photography and language work together on the page.
